Rancho Los Alamitos
(# 117)
Images Description Credits
This project rehabilitated and restored a family-owned working ranch; one of the most significant extant ranch properties in the area. The 7.5-acre site preserves important historic features of the property, including the original nineteenth-century adobe ranch house, extensive gardens, and ancillary buildings. The project has entailed existing conditions reports for all structures, a Historic Structures Report for the main house, preparation of a comprehensive Master Plan, and most recently, completion of the restoration of the barns area. Four historic barns were relocated and restored, while a fifth barn was rehabilitated & added onto, creating a new Education Center. The historic landscape around the barns was also restored.

The overall project, as constructed, reflects both very careful preservation planning to secure the qualities of the property and architectural design to seamlessly integrate new program and educational spaces into this important historical site.
