1. Context – Lake Piru, CA USA
Adjacent to Los Padres National Forest of Ventura County, CA. Dangerous wild fire prone area, dust/dirt proliferation, 100+ degree temperatures, remote project site.
2. Program - Create a fire resistant structure where pro freestyle motocross riders relax between training sessions while engaging a wide range of digital media. Rugged terrain, motocross equipment, steel-toed boots, helmets & protective gear are the norm.
3. Budget - $48K
4. Challenges - Create a rapidly deployed, mobile, fire-resistant & highly durable structure.
5. Solution - Diamond plate aluminum, 2-1/4” plywood, cement-fiber panels & ceramic based insulating paint (same as on NASA's Space Shuttle)endure the rough bikers and the Piru micro-climate. Housing a data/digital center, an energy drink bar and a spot for the FMX Team to kick it, two 20’ long cargo containers create a collapsable and mobile, 480 sq.ft. structure.
