| The three level, 15,700 sf, Recreational and Intramural Athletic Complex Annex building provides an upscale café, a campus store, and a lounge on its main level; a conference center a level below with additional dining and lounge space on a level above.
Located on a sloping site at the heart of UC San Diego’s North Campus, the building becomes a unique gathering place augmenting campus recreation, social and community activities. A “porch” fronts the campus Ridgewalk, extending the length of the building defining circulation and linking major spaces each having a direct relationship, visually and physically to the outside, taking advantage of the extraordinary climate and views to the foothills and the ocean. Expansive glass areas are shielded from the sun by a wood screen wall. Sustainably designed to meet LEED™ certification, the building is naturally ventilated and daylighted.
