Palo Verde College is the culmination of 20 years of planning and construction. Started in 1992, the project was master planned, funded and built via four phases:
One       completed 2001 - 2 main buildings plus all on/off site development
Two    completed 2006 – Vocational/Ttechnical building
Three      completed 2007 – Physical Education building
Four       completed 2013 – Theatre and Fine/Performing Arts building
Total    = 185,480 GSF
Site    = 200 Acres
Cost    = Approximately $52 million (hard cost)
Located overlooking Blythe, one of the hottest climates in California, its high diurnal temperature swings are taken to advantage with insulated High Thermal Mass construction, Daylighting, a high efficiency central plant, and photovoltaics. It employs a novel code interpretation to create a highly flexible "indoor campus" mall setting. The project already achieves AIA National's goal of Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 with its balance of a 9 acre photovoltaic array and energy conservation.
