Grace Chapel, Church of Our Saviour
Images Description Credits
On a tranquil church campus dating back to the 1870's, a new chapel and parish hall have been inserted among the historic existing buildings and heritage trees. The chapel, in contrast to the original church, is light-filled and transparent, opening on three sides to a meadow. This sacred space is dedicated to worship services for family and children. A timeless palette of timber, plaster, slate roof and stone tile floor unite the contemporary and historic fabric of the campus. In contrast, cast and dichroic glass, stainless steel mesh fabric and huge folding glass and steel panels emphasize wonderment and the ephermeral. This is a place for intimate gatherings, contemplation, celebration and memory.
