Jury Comments:
This addition revisits a classical courtyard typology with freshness, and elegance. Its apsidal courtyard building is uplifting, transformative and memorable, a gift to the City.

Images Description Credits
House Ear Institute is an internationally renowned independent research institute focused on treating and curing diseases and genetic disorders of the ear. The institute has as an active clinical diagnostic and treatment program and a vibrant research community. The Center for Molecular Medicine is a new 24,000 gsf laboratory wing, connecting to an existing 100,000 gsf facility. Consisting of two floors of wet labs, a bio-containment lab, lab support, dedicated ‘core’ areas, and associated offices, the project expands research space on the 2nd and 3rd floors, creating a building that appears to hover lightly above the ground. A dynamic new identity is imparted via a sweeping curved glass wall which projects through space, defining an outdoor arrival court and formal entry, and filling the building with natural north light.
