CONTEXT: Southern California Foothills
2.PROGRAM/SCOPE: Restore & renovate existing 1933 Spanish Colonial Revival house originally designed by Anderson & Nordstrom. Scope of work included remodel of Kitchen, all Bathrooms, re-working of Courtyard hardscape and landscape, new tile fountain and new Guest house.
3.BUDGET/COST: $500,000
4.SPECIAL CHALLENGES/UNUSUAL CHARACTERISTICS: Restore property to original condition and upgrade property such a manner that it appears to be part of the original design. Incorporate 1950s kidney shaped pool into a Spanish/Mediterranean Garden scheme.
5.SOLUTION/DESIGN:
a.Design Intention - Restore house to original condition where possible, renovate as-needed. Additions to maintain or enhance original level of detail in the Spanish Colonial Revival Style.
b.Principal Features - New Spanish Colonial Revival Style detailing with beamed or vaulted ceilings throughout. Extensive use of new Malibu Style Tile including custom tile design. Spanish Colonial Revival gardens with fountains.
