Located within a tilt-up complex, the Wilpeck Company enjoyed the functional aspects of this simple building type but found that the aesthetic environment didn’t convey their image nor did it provide an environment that suited their creativity. With a corporate philosophy that looked to the past as well as the future, this gaming group was open to a conversation between what was, what is, and what could be. Given this outlook the firm presented a facility that juxtaposed the views of what the future held, what has been achieved, and where we would like to go - all wrapped in an envelope balanced between nostalgia and hope. A simple palette was then developed; one that held onto clean room aspects of 2001 while throwing in a touch of the grittier aspects seen in such faire as the movie Gattaca. All of this “design” is then played off the reality of the warehouse that is just outside. This contrast further reinforces the difference between the day to day and one’s vision for where we might land. The office is comprised of two primary spaces, one housing the office and the other serving as the communal workroom.  The office space contains a waiting lounge with a raised desk and backlit display wall. While the workroom is less about sitting and more about getting the job done, raised counters and workstations make up the space with a stainless steel kitchen anchoring the room.
