The State of California approved a new era of nursing home care with the opening of the state’s first certified Green House homes at Mt. San Antonio Gardens, a senior community in Claremont on 29 acres. The process to approve this prototype project and combine three Union trades into one took 5 1/2 years.
20 residents will live at the Evergreen Villas in two 7,000 SF homes master planned around a secured garden environment including an organic vegetable garden with elders involved in the gardening. The houses open on all sides into garden patios or gardens.
The architectural style is contextual contemporary with the massing in scale with the surrounding neighborhood. The project was designed using sustainable materials, products and procedures and is applying for LEED Silver Certification.
