The new Student Center in the heart of the East Los Angeles College's campus includes a bookstore, the first-ever campus food service, lounges and student services. Upholding the College’s vision as a gateway to a brighter future, the facility connects students to collegiate experience traditions and creates a place they can call “home”.
The design is organized around a three-story atrium in the heart of the building, completely naturally ventilated and filled with natural light. This gathering/circulation space is a place where students can see and be seen, reflecting the college’s goals to gather a highly diverse community.
Providing necessary amenities for the academic and local community and acting as a beacon at night, the facility reflects the College’s commitment to student success. The building brings the community together by incorporating sustainable outdoor circulation and views to the open, landscaped quad.
