The Robinson Park Recreational Center project aimed to re-invigorate and substantially renovate an existing 15,550 square feet recreation center by thoughtful integration of additional spaces for a new total facility area of 20,550 sf. Our goal was to create meaningful spaces that encourage community involvement and interaction, as well as design a new building frontage that is welcoming and inviting - one that would become a source of pride for the surrounding community, and respects and complements Pasadena’s architectural heritage.
The City’s primary goals for the project included the achievement of high-quality standards for design and construction which meet the programming requirements of the Center and its intended uses while minimizing impacts to the public. In conjunction with the design process, the City submitted a Community Development Block Grant to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to be used for rehabilitation of the public owned facility.
