The brief called for a 600 square foot vacation house for one to be built on a 24 ft by 48 ft lot with an unavoidable ravine. The shape evolved as a response to the topography and site constraints, with a cantilever holding the living space to avoid awkward foundations in and around the flood prone ravine. Views are framed up and down the canyon by the cantilever's ribbon structure, while services are shielded by thick structural concrete walls built into the hillside.
