Student Modular Habitat (# 29) |
| The Student Modular Habitat (SMH) at Cal Poly Pomona is designed to replace a major landmark on campus [CLA Building, Anthonie Predock 1992]. The units are precast concrete and consist of a kit of parts of 8 different pieces that can create 12 different types of units. These units attach to a structural core on the center of both buildings while the skin on the facade provides variation and functionality, serving as both a shading device and balcony railing. The versatility and simplicity of the modular units allow for costs of construction to be low while having at the same time a great variety of spaces. |
