Exhibitions, installations, dance, music and theatrical performances, spoken word, and a foreign and independent film program: this project will explore the art of our time in a dynamic and flexible setting.
The ground floor will house new permanent art galleries, a museum store, a café, a 100-seat film screening room, and beneath a 40-foot high skylight, an expansive atrium gallery serves as a non-traditional theatrical space. Upstairs university students, faculty, visiting artists and filmmakers will explore state-of-the-art digital technology while dance, music, and theater faculty and students rehearse in studios with sprung wood floors and work out performances in a black box video/sound laboratory. In the lower level a world renowned photographic collection will be preserved in a state-of-the-art mechanically controlled research facility.
