CONTEXT: Southern California Foothills
2.PROGRAM/SCOPE: Restore & renovate existing 1933 Spanish Colonial Revival house originally designed by Anderson & Nordstrom. Scope of work included remodel of Kitchen, all Bathrooms, re-working of Courtyard hardscape and landscape, new tile fountain and new Guest house.
3.BUDGET/COST: $500,000
4.SPECIAL CHALLENGES/UNUSUAL CHARACTERISTICS: Restore property to original condition and upgrade property such a manner that it appears to be part of the original design. Incorporate 1950s kidney shaped pool into a Spanish/Mediterranean Garden scheme.
5.SOLUTION/DESIGN:
Restore house to original condition where possible, renovate as-needed. Additions to maintain or enhance original level of detail. New Spanish Colonial Revival Style detailing with beamed or vaulted ceilings throughout. Extensive use of new Malibu Style Tile including custom tile design. Spanish Colonial Revival gardens with fountains.
