The design draws inspiration from the California Modern Style with an emphasis on orientation and sustainability. The hilltop site allows the home to be oriented on the desirable east-west axis. The single story public areas retain a thin profile to allow natural cross ventilation, ample daylight and stunning views. The 3-story open stair acts as a conduit for the movement of light and air through the private side of the home. The exterior materials were developed for beauty and durability. The interior finishes were selected for durability and recycled content.
This Net Zero home uses a solar electrical and water heating system and the 3-zone HVAC system is comprised of the latest energy saving technologies. All lighting is LED or Fluorescent, and the appliances are energy star rated.
