The Project’s mission is to create an exciting and lively place to see and be seen where students can work out, hang out and relax in a sustainable design. Located in the Coachella Valley, the multi-faceted project includes renovation of an existing building currently housing shower and locker rooms into state-of-the-art health and fitness facility with the construction of a new 35,000-square-foot competition gymnasium and tennis complex. The College’s mission to “Create a Model Sustainable Campus” is reflected in the project’s design and current tracking of a LEED Gold certification. More importantly the project wears its sustainability using an integrated approach that couples design and sustainability into one expression. Features like the east facade’s custom perforated façade provides both wayfinding and solar control can be found throughout the complex displaying sustainability to users and visitors alike.
