Palm Springs High School Auditorium (# 118) |
The historic Palm Springs High School Auditorium has hosted superstars and high school students alike over its 60-year history. Originally designed by renowned Modernist architect Emerson Stewart Williams, it represents the heyday of Palm Springs culture.
In order to maintain its use into the future, a complete modernization of the auditorium, exterior, technology, and seismic performance was carried out. This modernization had to account for the community’s strong wish to preserve the building which had become a rallying call after a different historic building on the Palm Springs High School campus had been demolished years earlier.
This project was also a catalyst to an exciting change with how the Office of Public School funding regulations apply to historical buildings. |
