This 1925 Mediterranean Revival estate had been diminished by inconsonant alterations and almost doubled in size through incompatible additions. The client asked the architect for his ideas. The architect suggested removing the additions and restoring the original. The client then asked the architect what he would do if he wanted to continue on the project. The submission reflects the architect’s solutions.
The project includes the conversion of an over-scaled “Art Nouveau” Disco into a Venetian Ballroom, the remodeling of the service areas into a vaulted Kitchen / Family Room, the reworking of a flat-roofed elevator addition into a Campanile, the redesign of a Pool House and Swimming Pool and the restoration of the original house and site features to their initial design. |
