Schindler House Addition
(# 132)
Images Description Credits
Completion 4 / 2015
Specific Use of Building Home Workspace
The project brief required that a 1200 square-foot addition be introduced tho the Schindler house. In order to execute this the correct way, a detailed analysis of Schindler's philosophy for this house was integral. The original house was based on a live-work idea for two different families. The problem with this particular house was that the sleeping quarters were located outdoors in sleeping baskets. Because of this fatal flaw the residents were forced to re-purpose the work-spaces as sleeping quarters. This addition to the Schindler House addresses this problem by creating a collaborative and centralized work-space. This encourages the idea of a live-work system by comfortably introducing a work-space based on the division of spaces by level.
