For a vacation home in the Southern California desert city of La Quinta, the firm designed a one-story residence in the luxury golf community, the Madison Club. Extended over two lots, the home opens up to the west with views of the San Jacinto mountain range, as well as the club’s golf course. The main house includes a spacious master suite, and a great room comprising an open kitchen, dining room, living room and bar. A large infinity-edge swimming pool looks out over the golf course. In addition to a guest room that is part of the main house, a separate 1,625-square-foot guest house shares common living and patio areas.
The entry looks onto the great room and outdoor covered patio and pool beyond. To the left, the dining area and kitchen beyond can be separated by a sliding wood partition. Just past the entry is a bar and den, before the master suite. Here and in the separate guest house, the bedrooms open onto courtyards with seating nooks. Living spaces open onto outdoor areas wherever possible. A material palette of limestone floors, bleached teak ceilings, and acrylic plaster walls defines the spaces and complements the clean lines of the design. |
