West Covina Unified School District Sports Complex (# 177) |
The West Covina Unified School District Sports Complex is a reimagining of the sports core of the Edgewood campus.
At the heart of the project is a new 50 meter by 25 yard Olympic swimming pool that is designed to handle the water polo and swim programs for both Edgewood High School and West Covina High School. The southeast and northwest perimeter of the pool is flanked by over 9,000 square feet of shade canopies that provide not only areas for meet management and spectator seating, but seamlessly integrate sustainable technology in the form of thermal-solar pool heaters.
Due to the facility’s strategic location on campus, the building was designed around shared facilities that not only service the pool program, but can serve dual use for track and field events as well as community tennis programs. The street frontage was designed as a bold statement to the community as a beacon to West Covina Unified School District’s vision for academic and athletic excellence.
