Established in 1965, John W. North High School serves as a longstanding cornerstone of the Riverside community. Guided by a two-year visioning process, Riverside Unified School District and the design team modernized the aging campus to support contemporary learning while preserving its historic identity. The project revitalized the 43-acre campus through the construction of a new competition gymnasium, a two-story science building, and modernization of existing facilities, replacing aging portables with permanent instructional spaces. Delivered within budget and supported by Measure O and ESSER funding, the project required careful phasing to maintain uninterrupted school operations. Sustainable features, including high-efficiency building systems, drought-tolerant landscaping, low-VOC materials, and infrastructure for future solar installations, promote long-term performance and environmental stewardship. |
