Cuyamaca College, Student Services Center (# 241) |
|
|
Cuyamaca College gets its name from the Kumeyaay Native phrase for "above the rains". This project embodies its name by how it engages with its hillside setting and stimulates the senses through its connections to views. Cuyamaca College is committed to creating improved outcomes in its community, and this project demonstrates this commitment by bringing improved access to the campus’ doorstep. Higher education provides a vehicle for educational, economic, and social improvement and is a cornerstone of our society, yet for many this opportunity hinges on finding the services and assistance that enable them to enroll, get support, and ultimately matriculate. Cuyamaca College’s new Student Services Building brings all elements of the student support network together at the front door of campus. The building is integrated into the hillside, revitalizes the central green space with landscaped terraced roofs, outdoor waiting areas, and provides more equitable access for the entire campus. |
