Rooted in the agricultural heritage and cultural history of its community, this transformative high school campus reimagines equitable, future-ready education. Developed through 12 bilingual engagement sessions with more than 200 stakeholders, the design responds directly to priorities of safety, belonging, sustainability, and student success. Guided by the concept of “Roots and Wings,” the campus blends tradition and innovation through adaptable learning villages organized around outdoor courtyards that promote collaboration, wellness, and strong indoor-outdoor connections. Regionally inspired materials—including mass timber, masonry, and woven canopy elements—ground the campus in its context while supporting resiliency and low-carbon performance. With a projected EUI of 11.09 kBTU/SF/year, the campus reduces baseline energy use by 81%, establishing a new benchmark for sustainable educational design in the region. |
