Rooted in the transformative power of music, the Treehouse reimagines the heart of campus as a hub for learning, creativity, and community connection. Designed as a performance venue and educational environment, the building embodies rhythm and movement through a warm timber structure, floating lighting elements, and transparent gathering spaces that celebrate creative activity. Carefully integrated into the original 1976 campus, the Treehouse balances renewal with respect for context, preserving mature trees while creating a welcoming presence along the campus’s public edge. Flexible indoor-outdoor spaces support instruction, performances, and community engagement, allowing the building to evolve alongside changing educational needs. High-performance systems, daylight-driven design, and healthy material selections support wellness while dramatically reducing energy use. With a predicted EUI of 28 kBTU/SF/year the Treehouse establishes a sustainable new center for campus life.
