Norco College Center for Human Performance and Kinesiology (# 219) |
|
|
The new Kinesiology building fulfills a critical need on-campus and replaces modular structures allowing the College to offer more activity courses and field new athletic teams in basketball and volleyball. The new building also enables the College to host public-facing events, such as youth/adult sporting events and community wellness fairs. Accessibility of programs determined the organization of the building on the site, ensuring both the campus population and local community have easy access to the facility. The building is nestled into an existing hillside site connecting the upper campus promenade with the lower plaza and parking. The upper-level programs are more student-oriented while those on the lower-level serve both public and academic activities equally. The building will achieve LEED certification and will be delivered solar-ready and integrate into the campus-wide sustainability master plan. |
