The plan unfolds as a series of horizontal, pavilion like volumes anchored by a central great room—the social heart of the residence. From this core, the home extends outward to accommodate primary living spaces, private bedroom wings, guest suites, a casita, and recreational areas. The result is a resort like environment with multiple zones for gathering and retreat, allowing varied experiences to unfold simultaneously. Circulation is choreographed through deliberate moments of compression and release: restrained passages, lowered ceilings, and framed thresholds transition into expansive living areas, extended rooflines, and broad openings that heighten spatial contrast and emphasize outdoor living.
Material expression is orchestrated as a balanced composition of refined and tactile elements that reinforce the home’s horizontal organization. Thin roof planes extend outward to create deep overhangs, while warm wood soffits introduce a softer, human-scaled underside that enhances outdoor living areas. Glazing is strategically placed to frame views, modulate light, and maintain continuity between interior and exterior spaces. Carefully proportioned openings and layered planes establish a rhythm across the façades, creating moments of transparency and enclosure that guide movement and shape experience. Concrete masonry planes serve as an ordering element within this composition, lending a sense of permanence while helping to define outdoor rooms and align key sightlines. Together, these materials and spatial strategies organize the transition between public and private zones, resulting in an architecture that is both composed and responsive to its desert setting.
